Merchant scrip was widely used in 1862 before the adoption of metallic Civil War tokens, sometimes by the same merchants. This example is crisp uncirculated, unissued original scrip from the scenic town of Cuyahoga Falls, which is located between Cleveland and Akron. Altho the scrip carries the name of the Summit County Bank, they only redeemed the scrip. W. A. Hanford was the issuer and a local producer of paper. This would make a nice, inexpensive adjunct to a Civil War Token collection.
